Zip File Preparation

The system that BatchPix uses to create an album from a Zip file was designed to be quick, efficient, and precise. In order to make that happen, we had to be picky about how you create a Zip archive. Read further below about how the system works.

File Name

The file name you choose for the archive determines the album's name. For example, the file name summer_vacation.zip will become summer_vacation. Any spaces in the file name will be replaced with underscores.

Directory Structure

The most important aspect of creating a Zip archive is to ensure that you do not have directories, or folders, within it. The reason behind this is that folders would actually become sub-albums. We wanted to keep this as simple as possible. So if you want to create another album, just create another Zip file.

Zipping Program

We're often asked which program should be used when creating Zip files. We currently support all major forms of Zip Compression which means almost any popular Zipping program should work. Windows XP users could use the built-in support by right clicking, choosing "New", then "Zip Archive". Another option is to use the popular program, WinZip.
